This is a Volkswagen "bug." I drew it with a regular pencil and colored pencils from a personal photo I have of a car I rode in often, and sometimes drove, many years ago. When I drew this, in September, 2000 (when I still didn't have any Conte crayons), I used color pencils, along with regular drawing pencils, as I wanted to show the color (it being a car that I have strong memories of, and the red color seeming an important part of it's "personality"). This car took me many places, including to innumerable swap meets, and across the border into Mexico.Since I drew my earliest car drawings with pencil, I have done many more, mostly with Conte crayons and now also with pen and ink. |
