JUST BELOW - HOLD POINTER OVER UNDERLINED WORDS TO SEE THE LINKS |

ALSO, MANY MORE PHOTOS BY Every one of the photos on that page represents a different gallery of photos by George Davis, so click on each photo if you want to see lots more photos of the same subject. .There are many more photos here than on the Cool Old Truck site, but don't miss the Cool Old Truck site itself, as different photos are shown there, plus all of Mr. Davis' iron artwork, and other links you might be interested in! |
| DO NOT PAY ATTENTION to what it says on the first page, which is: "Attention! Clicking on the "new" link got me nowhere, and apparently the site has not moved at all. .Just stay right where you land and go to the links. The site needs work, but there is a lot there if you go looking around, with some particularly appealing pictures hiding in dark corners, and although some of the links to other sites are "dead," or confusing, there are some real treasures among them, too! There are lots of photos on the site from European junkyards. The site itself is a little confusing and there are irritating popups, but it's not as bad as some, and if you love looking at junkyard pictures, these will not be too distracting. Some pages within the site appear to have only one picture on them, but there are links (sometimes barely visible because of the color of the background) below that one picture to different pictures - Just keep exploring and you'll be rewarded. |

Way Out Salvage, Inc. The link above is to the first "Photo Gallery"page. IF YOU'RE EASILY FRUSTRATED, READ BELOW AS IT EXPLAINS HOW TO GET TO THE PICTURES YOU WANT TO SEE.SCROLL DOWN THE FIRST PAGE YOU GET TO, to where there are the small pictures. Only the first four pictures (as of the day I saw this) actually link to anything, and the others do not get you anywhere, but you can come back to this page if you accidentally click on them. However, when you click on any of those four pictures (the first row, 3 across, and the one on the left in the second row), you will get to more photos of that subject. But that's not all - Don't miss the "Virtual Tour!"
GO PAST THESE LITTLE PICTURES(most of which don't get you anywhere anyway), ANDCLICK ON THE ROUND PHOTO TO GET TO THE "VIRTUAL TOUR" PAGE.
Once you click on that round photograph, you get to the "Way Out Salvage Virtual Photo Tour" page. FIRST you may have to install something, depending on what you already have on your computer, that makes this kind of slide show work - I had to do that and it literally took just a couple of seconds and so far my computer hasn't acted funny. SECOND, you will want to get to the next picture, and the way to do that is to scroll down a tiny bit, to just below the caption under the picture, and there are the CONTROL ARROWS. Just click that one that aims to the right to get to the next picture. Now you can relax and look at the tour...All you have to do is click that right arrow when you want to go to the next one. P.S. Those floating maple leaves on the first page are a little odd, aren't they? NICE PICTURES - OLD, RUSTY cars in a junkyard. Article on JUNKYARDS at Wikipedia: Tells what other names for "junkyards" are (salvage yards, wrecking yards, etc.), and what goes on in one these places. At bottom of article is a linked list of other websites that might be of interest (salvage, wrecking, and recycling yards).

down to see them, or click on the links
to them, starting near the top of the page.
The yard is located in Sylmar, California.
OLD FARGO TRUCKSThis page has three pictures of a good-looking, '46 dark green Fargo utility truck. Translated into English from French (If you want to see original page in French, there is a link to click at the top of the page - It says "View Original Web Page"). Abandoned Fargo Truck in Australia The abandoned Fargo truck pictures are on the Old Dodge Trucks UK website (listed below, under MISCELLANEOUS OLD-VEHICLE PHOTO LINKS). There are good pictures here of an old, abandoned Fargo truck in Australia - once green, apparently, with lots of nice rust.
A Brief History of Fargo TrucksTop of the page is all Google ads - It looks like part of the site, but apparently is not. Scroll down for the history.

BUSES
OLD VW BUSES IN THE CALIFORNIA DESERT Click on the underlined link above to get there. The article tells about, and illustrates, a place in the California desert devoted to old VWs, especially buses. This is how the place is described in the article: "Volkswagen sanctuary, the country's Mecca to vintage Transporters. Littered everywhere is anything and everything related to old Type IIs, from countless Bus carcasses and potential restoration projects to the most minute of parts, 36-horse engines, coveted corner windows and donor parts." Click on the pictures to see them in a larger size.
Click on the pictures to see more pictures of the same subject (all of the subjects being buses, of course) - Click on those pictures to see larger views. There are lots of double-decker bus pictures on here.
CLASSIC BUS DEPOT The links to the pictures are divided into these sections:

MILK DELIVERY TRUCKSScroll down for the picture of the milk truck, then click on NEXT to see the next picture (or wait just a few seconds and the picture will change itself) and keep clicking because there are lots and lots (more than you at first realize) of them. They all have to do with this particular dairy (Roberts Dairy), and some of the pictures are of billboards and other advertising for this dairy's products, yet all of the pictures are evocative of long ago, giving us a glimpse of people back then and how they dressed and what they thought was humorous, and of neighborhoods and buildings and the occasional old car (not old then), and much more. They're pictures that, if you remember when those things were scenes from daily life happening "right now," will make you feel nostalgic twinges. Not that you want to go back, but it brings back memories. My uncle was a milkman, and we were on his route, so I do feel "drawn" to old milk trucks. I remember the bottles on the step, with cream at the top. Oh, yes, you're right - I'm not terribly young. - Jean
Really good milk truck pictures
Also, check out the links at the bottom of the page -- There is a photograph with each link so you get a "taste" of what you're going to see on the page it takes you to. I've only checked a few so far, but if all the links are as good as those I've seen, this page will lead you to more and better pictures of old vehicles than almost any one page I've ever come across on the web. All of these collections of pictures are on the same site: John's Old Car and Truck Pictures: http://oldcarandtruckpictures.com |
