ABOVE ARE SOME OF THE "COLORFUL" CONTE CRAYONS

UPDATE: January 23, 2007 -- This list (compiled by Brian McGurgan and myself, and helpful visitors to this site) of Conte products suppliers is in order by country (except those in Europe are just under "EUROPE" in this list at this time). I do not know, in most cases at least, whether products can be shipped from one country to another. I stopped buying Conte crayons from Canada because the store I bought them from stopped shipping to the U.S., but I will be glad to add Canadian on-line art supply stores that sell Conte products to the list now, for people in Canada who are trying to find what they need. I added another site, in the U.K., on August 8, 2007.

1) UNIQUE IMPRESSIONS

HOLD CURSOR OVER "Colours" near top of page, and menu will show; CLICK ON "Pastels" from this menu.

When the page changes, find (and click on) "Conte" on the list after the title: "Browse 'Pastels' Sub-Categories." This title is very small, but it's near the top of the page, on a gray background.

YOU WILL THEN GET TO THE FIRST OF THREE PAGES THAT LIST INDIVIDUAL CONTE CRAYONS FOR SALE AT (Australian dollars) $2.50 each. For some reason, the colors aren't shown, but you can find a URL that will take you to a Conte Crayons Color Chart on our new CONTE CRAYONS LIBRARY board. Many of the colors are also shown, quite clearly, on PAGE FOUR here in the Conte Crayons pages.

As far as I can tell, they only sell Conte crayons individually at this store, not in sets. Maybe I'm mistaken.

About a third of the way down this page, at the left, is: Quick Find. Type in "Conte" (without the quotation marks), and hit the Enter button on your keyboard (or click on the tiny magnifying glass, if you can see it).

Description: "Selection of 18 pastel products in a cigar wooden box." (If you "click to enlarge" the pictures, you get a full page with a tiny picture on it - not worth the trip.) I think these are regular "sketching" Conte crayons, not the "colorful" kind.

CONTE BLUE BOX SET OF 12 CRAYONS

Description: "12 Conte crayons in a blue box."

It looks like an assortment of the "colorful" Conte crayons. I guess people in Australia know what comes in blue boxes of 12 crayons.

CONTE BLUE BOX SET OF 24 CRAYONS

Description: "24 Conte crayons in a blue box featuring pullout drawers."

It looks to me like the "top drawer" has the same assortment of 12 "colorful" Conte crayons that the BLUE BOX SET OF 12 CRAYONS has, and the bottom drawer has the usual set of 12 "sketching" Conte crayons.

It's hard to see what's in these pictures, but it looks to me at fist squint as if that all three drawers contain an assortment of the "colorful" kind of Conte crayons (none of the "sketching" kind).

CONTE PASTEL (IT SAYS "PATEL") PENCILS IMPRESSIONIST SET

I can't see what's inside this (tin?) box, but "pastel" in the name tells me that they're like my own bit tin box of Conte Pastel Pencils (but with a much smaller selection -- just the 12).

Description: Artist quality crayyons and pastel pencils in assorted colours. Comes in a cardboard box." It says, further: "HOT PRICE: Was $27.95, NOW $12.95! Limited availability, while stocks last..." This is very hard to see - I challenge anyone who hasn't seen this item before to figure out what's in it from the picture or the description. Also, it looks like the items are stuck on cardboard and it's bubble-wrapped -- It doesn't look like a cardboard "box" to me.

Description: "Artist quality crayons and pastel pencils in neutral and earth tones. Comes in a cardboard box." This description is probably more helpful in this case, but again, the "box" doesn't look like a box to me.

THE ART SHOP

The Art Shop is apparently in Australia. They show $ for their prices, but I don't know if their $ are the same as U.S.$.

They sell sets of Portrait, Landscape, and "Assorted" colors. The prices for sets of 12 of any of these are $20.90 (As I say, I don't know how much that is in U.S. dollars.)
